"We know how a hostile offer can create tension between two organizations. I would be very surprised if Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon has forgiven the Habs."
The proof:
In an interview with The Athletic's Craig Custance, Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon returned to the subject in March.
Eccentric by nature, Dundon has a reputation for doing things his own way and not being outspoken, and he took the opportunity to take a swipe at Marc Bergevin and the Habs' management.
"I don't know why some people thought I couldn't afford such a contract but it's obviously my fault that people thought this and there's certainly something I said or did that left such a ridiculous impression. I understand hostile offers when a team has no space on their payroll. The most frustrating thing in this case is that we had plenty of space on our payroll. I don't understand the relevance in this case. Either they thought I was really stupid or really poor. The fact that an intelligent person could come to either conclusion is very bizarre. But everything turned out for the best for us. I wish I could have signed Sebastian to a longer contract but that's life!"
- Tom Dundon
In short, in his text, after the sentence I would be very surprised if Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon had forgiven the Canadiens, Pierre LeBrun adds:
"Hey, Jesperi Kotkaniemi is a restricted free agent this summer! Just kidding. I think? ;)"
