The Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets have both had interesting starts to the season.

It now looks like both teams will make the playoffs, but they're both a few pieces away from true contention.

Both teams equally have young players that they're underutilizing due to the talent of their rosters.

Insider Frank Seravalli reports that two players in particular that could be of mutual interest, in Ville Heinola and Nick Robertson.

Heinola, of the Jets, is a former 1st round pick, who, while deserving an NHL role, has been relegated to the AHL every season due to him not needing to pass through waivers. Heinola is a skilled two-way defender who would complement the Leafs perfectly. He could even slot in to the second pairing with both Jake Muzzin and TJ Brodie injured.

Robertson, of the Leafs, has shown flashes of elite skill. His shot is is phenomenal, and his overall game is relatively complete for a young player. Due to several factors, including the salary cap, and roster talent, he has found himself scratched more often than not. With Winnipeg's injuries at forward piling up, Robertson could find himself in a top-six role immediately if he were to go to Winnipeg.

With both players being the same age, and not really fitting in with their teams, this could be the perfect change-of-scenery trade.

Seravalli definitely thinks it could be, as he proposes it to be one-for-one.
