The reason P.K. Subban didn't sign right away is that he obviously didn't get the offer he was hoping for.
He was in the last year of his contract, which paid $9 million annually, and has been a free agent since July 13.
The hockey reporter for TVA Sports (thanks to Québécor for once again allowing its journalists and contributors to be on other airwaves), Renaud Lavoie, was on the microphone of Mario Langlois yesterday, on Amateurs de sports, on the Cogeco network.
According to him, Subban would receive more money to be an analyst on ESPN than to play another season in the NHL.
His next contract in the Bettman circuit would not exceed $1.5 million, according to Lavoie, and he even expects a salary in the six figures, not to mention the minimum salary in the NHL.
Is his ego ready to accept such a drastic pay cut? To be continued.
There is talk of a much higher salary on the TV side.
