The Avalanche have Girard signed for this season and the next five, which I believe is a fair price given the NHL's salary cap's stagnation.
Stranger still, Girard has 9 points in his first 10 games with the Avalanche, with a goal and 8 assists. Despite their apparent success on the ice, Chambers believes the Avs will eventually trade Girard due to his past troubles with the team, which date back to last season and the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"They were highly unhappy how Sam Girard played in the second round series against Vegas, his turnovers, he didn't produce offensively, he was not good and I think that has lingered on into this season and primarily it's Bo Byram that has showed the Avs that he's better than Girard," added Chambers.
The Avs are shopping Girard in the hopes of acquiring another forward.
