The current general manager of the Montreal Canadiens would be on the verge of fixing a mistake of his predecessor, who let Phillip Danault go for absolutely nothing.
Sean Monahan will become an UFA this summer and the possibility of renewing his deal with the Habs is well and truly on the table.
One internet user compared the two situations and it's far from crazy:
"The same people complaining that Bergevin should have given Danault his 6-year, $33M contract ($5.5MAAV) are the ones who want to trade Monahan, not give him that contract.
Danault was 28 when he signed that contract, Monahan is 28!
And in my book, Monahan is better than Danault!" - MathieuMMtl
Do you think Monahan is equal or better than Danault? In terms of statistics, they speak for themselves.
Monahan has 16 points in 24 games this season, while Danault has 19 points in 27 games.
To be continued.
