It looked like the Toronto Maple Leafs were going to sail to victory in Madison Square Garden, however once again the Leafs blew another lead ending in a 6-3 loss to the New York Rangers.
After the brutal finish, Leafs bench boss Sheldon Keefe was clearly unhappy with the way his team played and let the media know about it saying:
"We got exposed today for being a team that was just soft. Soft and purposeless and just kind of playing the game hoping it was gonna work out." Keefe would also add: "Some games we just turn into another team after we have the lead we just stop playing and it's costing us games and it's embarrassing."
Sheldon Keefe even talked about Jack Campbell's play of late has noticeably had gotton worse. Campbell gave up 5 goals on 26 shots and Sheldon Keefe would say this about his goaltender:
"He's not playing to the same level, I think that's obvious."
The Leafs sit third in the Atlantic division 5 points up on the Boston Bruins, with a 24-10-3 record. Their next game is Saturday night vs the struggling New York Islanders who are last in the Metropolitan Division.
