New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello spoke to reporters yesterday following the signing of three of his players, including former Canadiens young defenceman Alexander Romanov.
Lamoriello confirmed that he was approached by Kent Hughes. Kent would offer Romanov to any team that offered him a mid-first-round pick.
Guess what, it was good old Lou who took the bait.
Why a mid-first round pick? Because that's what Chicago Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson wanted to trade Kirby Dach for.
The 26th overall pick, which was used to draft Filip Mesar, was not enough for Davidson.
