Auston Matthews has been on a tear lately, scoring a bunch of goals. He just scored 50 goals in his past 50 games. Mario Lemieux was the last NHL player to reach that milestone, doing so back in 1995-96
Matthews is currently at 58 goals on his way to a 60 goals season.
The only 2 active NHL players have scored 60 or more goals in a season: Alex Ovechkin (65 in 2007-08) and Steven Stamkos (60 in 2011-12).
Auston Matthews is now at 58 with 10 more games to go after tonight.
