The Canadiens had high hopes for Suzuki from the moment they traded away former captain Max Pacioretty to the Vegas Golden Knights for Suzuki. Granted there was more to that deal but it was Nick Suzuki the Canadiens wanted in that deal.
The latter hasn't disappointed the Canadiens either since joining them. Nick Suzuki keeps on improving and is becoming that top line center the Canadiens desperately need.
With the announcement from the Montreal Canadiens' new GM Kent Hughes that the Canadiens will have a new captain next season, many believe it's going to be Nick Suzuki. There's also rumors going around that Hughes is going to use his old connections as an agent to bring former client and pending UFA Patrice Bergeron to Montreal to help prime Nick Suzuki.
This would be an excellent move if Kent Hughes could pull it off. The Canadiens are watching Bergeron closely and if he does hit free agency, they will be the first ones to make a offer.
Patrice Bergeron is one of if not the best two-way center in the game. Bergeron could teach so much to Nick Suzuki as well as many other young Habs and also would fill in while the Canadiens rebuild. Fingers crossed Kent Hughes can pull this off, it would definitely get approved amongst the Canadiens fanbase.
