According to ESPN's Greg Wyshynski, if the Montreal Canadiens win on Thursday night, the Stanley Cup Final will begin on Monday, June 28th. If the Vegas Golden Knights pull out the win, and force a game seven then game one of the Stanley Cup Final will begin on Wednesday, June 30th.
Wyshynski added that the NHL reportedly doesn't have any games scheduled for the Independence Day weekend of July 3rd-4th.
Rest is key, especially in the playoffs, and it could be a quick turnaround for the winner of the game seven matchup between the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Islanders. If Montreal wins tonight, then the winner of that series will only have two days off before playing in game one of the Stanley Cup Final.
Stanley Cup Final schedule:
-If MTL wins G6, sounds like a Monday (6/28) start.
-If VGK wins G6, the SCF will start on Wed (6/30).
-One big schedule quirk: No games on July 3 or 4, no matter who has home ice. Greg Wyshynski (@wyshynski) June 24, 2021
