Elliott Friedman of Sportsnet reports that the Oilers may have already targeted a replacement goaltender to take over in Edmonton.
«Remember how much we were talking in January/February about [Ville] Husso and the Oilers? I just wonder if that one kicks up again in the offseason. I think the Oilers are preparing for the possibility of a future without Mike Smith, whether it's retirement or it's LTIR.»
Husso has demonstrated his ability with the St. Louis Blues.
The fact that the Oilers have demonstrated they can win will probably convince Husso to sign with them. Who doesn't want to play with the best player in the world?
