TSN reporter Mike Johnson has proposed a trade involving the Montreal Canadiens and the San Jose Sharks.
Considering that Kent Hughes is looking for a right-handed defenseman who is good on the power play and that Mike Grier is interested in trading Erik Karlsson, Johnson did 1+1 in his head.
Of course, at this point, the Habs are unable to absorb Karlsson's full salary of $11.5 million through 2027.
In the deal, the Habs should definitely give away Brendan Gallagher, who earns $6.5M through 2027, as well.
But Hughes will also have to give away prospects or picks in addition to Gallagher.
In the end, the chances of this kind of trade happening are virtually nil, but coming from a journalist like Mike Johnson, it's worth thinking about.
