The latest episode of Friedman's 32 Thoughts Podcast asked about David Krejci. "Could he return to the Czech league? I'm still not sure, and he has to clear waivers, so that's another challenge."
Earlier this season, the Bruins had one former Bruin return, veteran goaltender Tuukka Rask, and it didn't go well. Rask's return was cut short, and I wonder whether it will deter the Bruins from bringing in another former player to boost their lineup before the playoffs. Despite this, Krejci had a great season in the Czech League with Olomouc HC, scoring 20 goals and adding 26 assists for 46 points in 51 games.
Re-signing the 35-year-old centerman may be challenging for the Bruins, as some teams, notably a longtime rival in the form of the Montreal Canadiens, may try to make it difficult.
"Could Arizona or Montreal claim him on waivers and trade him to Boston?" Friedman was asked. "Everyone is looking for a way around it. I adore these imaginative ideas, but I've already had teams say no way."
