Since being taken second overall at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers, Nolan Patrick's career has been tumultuous to say the least, and it is now being reported that the 22-year-old would like a change of scenery.
Roughly a month ago, Patrick changed agents, and while it didn't make a ton of headlines at the time, it is now. According to TheFourthPeriod, the reasoning behind switching agents is because he is soon going to request a trade. The report states that he doesn't like the criticism he faces, doesn't enjoy the spotlight that's being put on him, and does not like head coach Alain Vigneault.
If this is true, it is hard to blame Patrick for wanting a fresh start. It has been a rough beginning to his NHL career, capped off by having to miss the entire 2019-20 season due to migraine issues. Though he was able to play this season, he struggled immensely with just four goals and nine points in 52 games. The talent is clearly there, and perhaps starting somewhere new would allow it to come out.
