The play occurred during the Hurricanes' penalty kill in the first period.
Oshie was pushing for position in the crease when Staal grabbed his stick from his grip and threw it on the ice. While Oshie went to get his stick, Staal skated over to cover Ovechkin.
When Oshie returned, he smacked Staal in the hands with his stick.
While this was happening, Ovi ripped a shot at the half circle from his office that went into the net.
Unfortunately, the refs disallowed the goal and put Oahu's in the penalty box.
