The Panthers made a request to the NHL but been turned down

According to what Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports, the Florida Panthers have asked the National Hockey League that they would like to play on a different night than the Miami Heat, the basketball team in the NBA.
For some reason, the NHL did not or could not make that happen.
The reporter says he doesn't understand why the NHL couldn't reverse the days of its two Eastern semi-finals to avoid this attendance mess.
