The Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to terms with forward Kasperi Kapanen on a two-season, $3.2 million per year contract.
With this re-signing of Kapanen, the Penguins are officially over the payroll.
Ron Hextall has a couple of options, sending Smith and O'Connor back to the AHL in October.
Also, Hextall now has a 48-hour buyout window that opens in three days. Could the team buy out Zucker or Pettersson, as reported by Frank Seravalli of DailyFaceOff?
File to follow.
