The Shea Weber case has now been addressed by Kent Hughes
The regular season for the Montreal Canadiens has come to an end.
Yesterday, the players and several executives stepped to the microphone, and today we have the opportunity to reflect on some key themes.
The instance of Shea Weber, in particular. Kent Hughes addressed a matter that has gotten a lot of attention and was finally addressed yesterday.
Hughes told us (one again) that Weber's return to the game is quite unlikely. Obviously, he is unable to make any official announcements due to insurance and NHL rules, but his remarks screamed volumes.
Weber's radio quiet this season, as well as the captain's repeated refusal to speak to the media (and the fans), GM Kent Hughes has stated that Weber is not yet comfortable speaking out on the subject.
Shea Weber is terrified of "getting into trouble" if he answers media questions or divulges stuff he shouldn't.
Kent Hughes does not believe the criticism for the lack of the captain in the Habs' entourage is fair in light of the recent comments and criticism, particularly in light of the tribute to Guy Lafleur.
Weber is still well-liked by the players and the Tricolore management, according to Hughes.
Other things to keep in mind:
- We got our answer: Weber will stay in town a little longer and will attend Guy Lafleur's funeral in Montreal.
- The CH wants to choose a new captain for next season, but won't make a decision until the end of the summer. (to get a full view of the team following the draught and free agents)
- Kent Huges expects to be successful in his attempt to trade Shea Weber's contract this summer. The Arizona Coyotes come to mind right away.
