The Vancouver Canucks Have Officially Given Up On Re-Signing Captain Bo Horvat - Trade to Come
It appears that Bo Horvat's time in Vancouver has come to an end. The team captain, who is a pending unrestricted free agent, has apparently rejected the Canucks' final offer. A trade will now be the teams' top priority.
After signing JT Miller to a contract with an annual average value of $8.5-million, the team effectively ruined it's chances of keeping their captain in Vancouver. Horvat is undoubtedly worth either the same, or more than Miller, but clearly the team management didn't care.
Their final offer' didn't even start with an 8. With comparable players earning closer to $9-million, this wouldn't even be in the ballpark.
The team clearly has no issues putting out insulting offers, however, as we saw a report last week that their initial offer was an insulting $5.125-Million.
With the possibility of re-signing Horvat gone, it is unknown which direction the team will pursue. It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds.
