It's no surprise to anyone that the Habs have a significant surplus of forwards in their lineup right now, and that Evgeny Dadonov's "injury" has simply pushed back a decision on which player will have to be sacrificed to meet the 23-man roster limit to Tuesday.

Habs GM Kent Hughes is currently very active in the trade market, and is reportedly actively trying to deal one of his forwards as soon as possible.

The excellent Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now mentioned four teams that are reportedly very active right now and are worth keeping an eye on around the Habs for a possible trade.

Ottawa Senators

With the very long-term loss of their number one centre, Josh Norris, the Senators find themselves in a situation that is really not optimal for a team that had ambitions to make the playoffs this year.

Although Derick Brassard is trying admirably to fill the gaping hole left by Norris in the lineup, the Sens' defensive problems are major. Unfortunately, head coach DJ Smith can't give all the defensive duties to their excellent rookie Shane Pinto. They are in desperate need of a two-way centre, which makes Christian Dvorak a very attractive prospect in Ottawa.

Philadelphia Flyers

Like Ottawa, the Flyers are suffering from the loss of Sean Couturier, who will be out for several months. Add to that the loss of Ryan Ellis and James Van Riemsdyk, the Flyers have lost a lot of luster offensively. With only Kevin Hayes as a top-6 centre, John Tortorella's team is in dire need of a backup at centre.

Christian Dvorak's candidacy is once again very interesting for the Flyers. The 26-year-old Canadian centre could fill an important need in Philadelphia.

Washington Capitals

There is a tremendous amount of rumour surrounding Kent Hughes and his Caps counterpart Brian MacLellan. With a team that is aiming for nothing less than top honors and just lost a key piece of their top-9 for the season in Connor Brown, it's quite possible that Washington will want to add some experience and offensive punch to their roster.

The names of Jonathan Drouin and Evgeny Dadonov are being bandied about by the Capitals. While Drouin seems to be the most interesting player for them at first glance, the Russian connection to many of the players in the lineup should not be overlooked.

Annaheim Ducks

As D'Amico mentions, several sources have confirmed that the Habs and Ducks are continually in negotiations for a potential deal. In fact, there were three members of the Ducks, including assistant GM Rob DiMaio, on the press gallery at a CH game recently.

Mike Hoffman, Evegeny Dadonov and Jonathan Drouin were also mentioned by D'Amico as possible trade candidates. The natural connection between the Ducks and the Quebec players could help the number 27's candidacy here.
