Not only did the Montreal Canadiens draft the first overall pick in the last draft, but they also had a lucky hand with the 26th overall pick in Filip Mesar.
According to Frantisek Stolc, director of a Slovakian team who knows Mesar well, the youngster's potential is very interesting.
« In my opinion, he will become a very good player, because NHL hockey is more and more focused on speed and this aspect is Filip's biggest strength. I would even go so far as to say that he will become one of the best skaters in the NHL. »
Stolc even compared him to a former CH player: Alex Kovalev.
« Filip is no Alexei Kovalev, but back in the day, people would pay to see #27 in training because he was so spectacular. Mesar is in that category. He is a spectacular player who doesn't skimp on making sure his feints and graceful moves are at the highest level possible. »
It will be interesting to see his talent at the next Canadiens training camp.
