The Washington Capitals announced today that defenceman John Carlson has been placed on the long-term injured list.
The player left Friday's game against the Winnipeg Jets after receiving a puck in the face. He did not return to the ice for the game.

Carlson has played 30 games this season and has 21 points, including eight goals.
