According to reports from insider Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic and TSN, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes was actively interested in signing John Klingberg last summer.
LeBrun even suggests that the CH reportedly tabled a one-season contract offer to Klingberg, before he decided to sign in Anaheim, one of the worst teams in the NHL right now.
The contract was worth $7 million.
The 30-year-old veteran right-hander had 47 points in 74 games last season. This year in Anaheim, he has seven points in 15 games.
Would you like to see Klingberg with the Habs next season as he becomes an uncompensated free agent again this summer?
