Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes explained why Alexander Romanov was traded.
The GM said it was not because of the current situation in his native country. The fact that the CH is very well equipped on the left side meant that Hughes could afford to lose him.
The Russian aspect didn't play into the decision to trade Romanov. It's really the fact that there's a lot of relief coming in on the left side that convinced the Habs," Hughes said.
The Habs really wanted Kirby Dach and had no choice but to trade the young back.
