The city of Chicago is known for being a passionate fan base who shows up for their teams good and bad. The Chicago Blackhawks have sold out the United Center for many years despite their recent lack of success. The Chicago Bears have always struggled to be good and still, fans show up week in and week out.
The same cannot be said for the Chicago White Sox. This season they are on an all-time terrible run with a record of 31-105. As a result of this terrible stretch of play their attendance has suffered. During a recent game against the Texas Rangers the fans just decided not to show up leaving the stadium essentially empty.
While the announced attendance was reportedly only 17 people it seems from the photos there were more people at the game. Regardless the lack of talent on the field and lack of care from the White Sox ownership has come back to bite them. Now fans are calling for owner Jerry Reinsdorf to sell the team.
With the embarrassment that this season has been for the White Sox fans are understandably upset. If things do not improve soon then the MLB might have to step in and force the White Sox ownership to either spend on the team or sell.
