The NHL Department of Player Safety made a decision about Nashville Predators' Michael McCarron and his hit on Vancouver Canucks' goalie Casey DeSmith.

On Friday night, in game three between the Canucks and the Predators McCarron ran over DeSmith behind his net. Fortunately, DeSmith was fine and remained in the game.

If you missed it, here's how it went down:

However, McCarron will face official consequences from the NHL for this hit.

Indeed, the DoPS revealed that McCarron will have to pay a $2,000 fine for goalie interference.

Here's an official statement from the NHL:

"Nashville's Michael McCarron has been fined $2,000 for goalie interference on Vancouver's Casey DeSmith."

McCarron was in a position to avoid the hit, but chose to land on the goalie, which explains why the DoPS chose to punish him.

With Thatcher Demko already sidelined with an injury, losing DeSmith would've been devastating for the Canucks. However, he managed to deliver an impressive performance, allowing only one goal on 30 shots. The next game between both teams is scheduled for Sunday evening, and if the Canucks win, they'll be only one victory away from eliminating the Predators.
