This trade would see two players 23 or younger swapped for one another. Morgan Frost had a slow start to his career but has broken out in recent years. On the flip side, Shane Pinto had his first full NHL season in 2022-23.

Young Players Get A Fresh Start After Major Trade

Morgan Frost has been underutilized during much of his time in Philadelphia. A good playmaker with skating ability has been used more in defensive and bottom-six minutes.

Finally, in 2022-23 he got some run in the top six and improved dramatically. He ended up with 46 points in 81 total games. A trade to Ottawa would likely allow him to grow in the top six with the young Senators.

Shane Pinto played his first played his first full NHL season in 2022-23. Pinto put up 15 points in those games. It has been a bit of a rough start for Pinto in Ottawa.

After a successful career at North Dakota Pinto signed and played 12 games at the end of the year and had 7 points. In 2021-22 Pinto got injured and only played 5 games. After returning in 2022-23 he seemed to have lost favor in the organization and ice time. A talented player who needs a new opportunity.
