After the season's conclusion, the ownership took the first step in restructuring by dismissing Penguins President Brian Burke, General Manager Ron Hextall, and assistant GM Chris Pryor.
One of the primary problems the Penguins faced this season was their goaltending. When Tristan Jarry suffered an injury, Casey DeSmith was unable to step up and fill the void.
To address this issue, the Penguins are seeking help in the net. According to NHL Trade Rumors, the Penguins are considering the possibility of reuniting with Marc-André Fleury, who has expressed an interest in returning to the team.
Fleury, who is now 38 years old, is likely to play either in a backup role or share the workload with Jarry. In the current season, Fleury maintained a 24-16-4 record, with a 2.58 goals against and a .911 save percentage.
Fleury previously won three Stanley Cups with the Penguins before joining the Vegas Golden Knights in the expansion draft. He was subsequently traded to the Blackhawks and then to the Wild. However, Fleury has always expressed a desire to return to the Penguins and it would be awesome to see Fleury have one last run with the team that drafted him.
