The Toronto Maple Leafs have some serious questions regarding their future roster construction after signing William Nylander to an eight-year contract extension this season.

Now many believe on of their core players could be on the move.

Possible Trade Emerges Involving Marner Going To Boston Bruins

Marner has always seemed to be the core player most likely to be traded. Auston Matthews is obviously the franchise leading player and William Nylander certainly won't be traded anytime soon following his extension. Now the star winger has been linked to the Boston Bruins.

Could Trading Marner Be Worth While For The Toronto Maple Leafs?

The Leafs could certainly use help in goal as they have not had consistent performances from their goaltenders in several years. That being said, giving up Marner would be a huge problem for the Leafs up front as they already lack adequate scoring depth. After all, Marner has consistently been a quality first line player. Just recently, he recorded his 600th career point with the team.

HISTORY 🍁

Mitch Marner (@Marner93) reaches 600 points in 548 games, besting Darryl Sittler's (584 GP) record from more than 45 years ago!

Marner has 20 goals and 51 points so far this season in 46 games with the Leafs. That being said, Jeremy Swayman has been one of the best goaltenders in the league over the last couple of seasons. Both teams would have to agree to this trade and as a one-for-one it seems questionable whether or not either team would be willing to pull the trigger on this deal.
