A new report from NHL insider Darren Dreger has confirmed that the Jake Guentzel trade is expected to be completed soon.

A post on X from insider Darren Dreger has set the trade rumors surrounding Jake Guentzel on fire. According to Dreger, the Penguins would like to complete the Guentzel trade in the next 24 hours.

The #Penguins are hoping to have a trade in place for Jake Guentzel by tomorrow evening. Per, Darren Dreger.

Dreger continued on to say that the Penguins are hoping to get a first round pick, top prospects, and a young roster player in return for Guentzel when all is said and done.

Sources say the Penguins are hoping to have a trade in place for Jake Guentzel by tomorrow evening. Pittsburgh is open to quality over quantity in return, but would like a 1st, young NHL player, plus prospects. Flexibility comes in the calibre of prospect or roster player.

Reports also confirm that Guentzel will come to his new team as a rental and not in a sign-and-trade type deal.

The expectation is that Guentzel will be dealt by the #pens as a rental. It doesn't sound like potential acquiring teams have shown much interest in trying to work out an extension as part of the trade.

With Guentzel currently out due to injury there will be no signs of a trade coming. In most cases, he would be held out for trade-related reasons however in this case that will not be something to watch for.
