A member of the Toronto Maple Leafs' prospect pool received a huge honor in the KHL at only 20 years old.

Leafs Top Prospect Nikita Grebenkin Becomes Youngest Captain of Metallourg Magnitogorsk in the KHL

Drafted 135th overall in 2022 by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Nikita Grebyonkin was named team captain of the Metallourg Magnitogorsk in the KHL earlier today.

At only 20 years old, he became the youngest player to wear the "C" on his jersey in that franchise, which was founded in 1955.

Notable, the Pittsburgh Penguins player Evgeny Malkin was named captain of the same team in the 2013 lockout.

"Big news in regard to Grebyonkin wearing the C for Metallurg today. Earning a letter this young, he's got real potential. Hope he can make the jump and play with the Marlies. #LeafsForever"

In 66 games this season, the forward tallied 39 points, including 18 goals. His KHL contract is set to expire after the current season and it'll be interesting to see if he joins the Marlies at the end of the season. There's only two games left to his season and he could really help the Marlies in the playoff race.

Earlier today, he even added a goal, in his first game as captain.
