The hockey world has long been awaiting the anticipated rebrand of the Arizona Coyotes to their new home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today, the top 20 potential nicknames have been announced.

After many agonizing months of ownership issues, the Coyotes were officially set to move out of Arizona. The team was due to move to Salt Lake City Utah after the NHL Board of Governors approved the sale on April 18th of this year.

"BREAKING: The Arizona Coyotes are officially headed to Salt Lake City starting next season, sources tell The Athletic.

On Thursday, the NHL Board of Governors unanimously voted in favor of the sale and relocation of the team's hockey assets."

Yet, this left former Yotes and new Utah hockey fans questioning the rebranding of the franchise. It was not long before rumors surrounding the team's new name circulated. However, in addition to the formal announcement of the team as "UTAH" for their first season, the franchise left it up to fans to vote from a list of 20 possible names for the team.

"For the inaugural season, the new team in Salt Lake City will only wear 'UTAH' across its sweater.

Here are the 20 potential nicknames under consideration for the future via a fan vote."

Among these names are the Utah Fury, the Utah Frost, and the seemingly popular Utah Yeti. Hockey fans have already provided their mixed reviews, with some detecting all names, and others just wishing they would pick one before the next season.

While the time for Utah's team to don their new name and jersey is still distant, it will certainly be fascinating to see which route they go.
