Look, it's been pretty bad for the Boston Bruins this season. They are 3rd in the Atlantic Division however are sitting at 7-7-2, and looking like a shell of the dominant team from the past decade and a half. A lack of production and locker room turmoil has cast a long shadow on a once bright spot in the NHL.
With rumors of their head coach Jim Montgomery being fired, to whether or not Brad Marchand is going to re-sign or not, the headlines have not been kind to Boston. Well, the most recent antics of Brad Marchand certainly won't help any:
After Brady Tkachuk sunk the Bruins in overtime, Marchand had a colorful choice of words for the opposition as he skated to the locker room. It was another blemish on the Bruins season, as frustrations are clearly reaching an all-time high.
Ottawa's win came off the heels of a dominant third period which saw the Bruins register a whopping zero shots on net, and unable to provide any response before falling in OT. It shows another repeat dismal performance from a team that has seemingly fallen off a cliff with no end in sight.
For what it's worth, Marchand has tried to do his part for the Bruins this season, registering 5 goals and 12 points; good for second behind David Pastrnak. Beyond that though, the rest of the Bruins have been terrible offensively, and it doesn't give Marchand a lot of reason to stick around past this season if they continue this way.
It's not unexpected to see Marchand respond the way he did, as he is never shy about speaking his mind to players, refs, or the media. But this is different. It's a case of an entire team being disappointed and frustrated; feeling this season echoes Marchand's words to Tkachuk:
