In a new post on X, the renowned insider Kevin Weekes confirmed that the Calgary Flames added the defenseman Rasmus Andersson in the list of players who could be traded at the deadline on March 8th.
Rumors state that the Flames want a 2nd round pick and another asset for Chris Tanev, as well as a 1st round pick, a player and another asset for Hanifin.
Andersson, being arguably better than Tanev and Hanifin, will likely cost more to acquire on the trade market.
This season, Andersson has 28 points in 50 games, including seven goals. He's on a pace to reach the 45-point mark for the third straight year.
He would definitely be a great update for the Maple Leafs' right side. He's great both offensively and defensively and doesn't mind playing a physical game.
The biggest issue concerns his cost on the market. He has two seasons remaining on his deal at $4.55 million, which will definitely raise his value.
If the Flames are serious about trading him, they'll fix a price and wait who'll be the team that pays it.
In Toronto, Brad Treliving would probably need to part ways with many interesting players and picks, such as the 2024 1st round pick, Nicholas Robertson, Timothy Liljegren, or even Fraser Minten to get Andersson.
