The Carolina Hurricanes silenced many of the rumors of a Martin Necas trade today by signing Martin Necas to a 2-year extension. The extension comes in the middle of a ton of trade speculation surrounding Martin Necas.
Now that Martin Necas is off of the market a report has come out revealing which teams were trying to trade for him. The first team involved was the Buffalo Sabres who reportedly had a deal done but Martin Necas refused to sign if traded there.
The more interesting report comes regarding a trade that was turned down by the Hurricanes that many fans feel would've been an absolute steal in return for Martin Necas.
In a new report, NHL insider Frank Seravalli revealed that the Winnipeg Jets were in pursuit of Martin Necas. According to his sources, the Jets offered to trade Cole Perfetti, Rutger McGroarty, and a draft pick to the Hurricanes for Martin Necas.
This failed trade would have been the blockbuster of the summer but instead both teams will keep their players and move their separate ways. Now that it has been made public that the Winnipeg Jets are open to moving prospects it will be interesting to see if something surfaces.
