REPORT: Superstar Cale Makar To Be Banned From Next Olympics
A new statement from Hockey Canada has called into question the Olympic eligibility of Cale Makar and every player on the 2018 Canadian World Junior Team.
Makar To Be Banned From Next Olympics
A new statement has been released by Hockey Canada this afternoon in response to the press conference from the London Police. Amongst many other pieces of information Hockey Canada confirmed that all players will remain suspended by Hockey Canada until the completion of this case.
«Pending the completion of the appeal process, all players from the 2018 National Junior Team remain suspended by Hockey Canada, and are ineligible to play, coach, officiate or volunteer with Hockey Canada-sanctioned programs.»
As a result many are pointing out this could cause players not linked to the scandal such as Avalanche superstar Cale Makar to suffer as well.
So Makar may not play in the 2026 Olympics cuz of the ongoing criminal investigation
While this is a frustrating development as far as on ice product is concerned it is good to see Hockey Canada proceeding with caution. Once it is clear that other players were not involved in these events they will likely individually be cleared for events like the Olympics.
As this case plays out it will be interesting to see how long players like Cale Makar need to wait before being cleared by Hockey Canada to return.
