Sean Higgins is the man who, while drunk, ran over the Gaudreau brothers, ending the life of Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau. He's now speaking out from his jail cell.

Tragedy struck Thursday evening in New Jersey, where one of the NHL's stars, Johnny Gaudreau, along with his brother Matthew, had their life tragically ended by a drunk driver while cycling. The brothers were in town for their sister's wedding.

The 43-year-old driver, Sean Higgins, was arrested immediately at the scene and is now facing strict charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular homicide. According to the New York Post, Higgins had admitted to drinking five or six beers before driving, in which he caused the fatal crash. He even said that he had an open can of beer at the very moment he struck the Gaudreau brothers, which means he was actively drinking while driving too, which makes the situation even worse.

"The trooper who arrived at the scene detected a strong odor of alcohol' on his breath, according to the criminal complaint obtained by The Post.

Higgins allegedly told the trooper that he had five to six beers' before the fatal crash.

He also supposedly confessed that he believed the SUV was trying to block him from passing and that his drinking exacerbated his impatience and reckless driving.

Higgins failed a field sobriety test, troopers said."

In an unsettling turn, Sean Higgins is said to have made remarks that he should not have to be held in a jail cell longer than the standard 72 hours, to which the judge said he has no choice as it is a long weekend, which means he will be forced to stay an extra 24 hours or so. He appeared very frustrated about this development, showing absolutely no remorse in his video.

As litigation remains ongoing, Sean Higgins could face as much as 20 years in prison, as well as a total fine of up to $400,000. The general public will most likely have a lot of interest in this matter, so people will definitely be on standby as they await more news in the coming weeks.
