NHL Veteran Facing Criminal Charges in Finland
NHL players make a lot of money. Depending on where they live, this lot of money can be taxed pretty heavily. For former Edmonton Oiler Esa Tikkanen, this could have him sent to prison.
Tikkanen Facing Criminal Charges
The 58-year-old Tikkanen, who won four Stanley Cups in Edmonton, is now being investigated for aggravated tax fraud.
According to court documents, the offenses are alleged to have occurred from 2015 to 2019 and involve money Tikkanen made abroad.
Tikkanen spoke to Finnish authorities denying these reports:
I have not committed any offense, it is a matter of disagreement with the tax authorities.
Reports indicate that Tikkanen has had $178,000 in assets seized by Finnish authorities.
The 877-game NHL alum might have his legacy tarnished forever now.
