All NHL players have a grueling schedule. Every year comes with eighty-two regular season games. For many players, that is followed by any number of playoff games ranging from four at the lowest possible side of things and upwards of 20 or more for teams that make the finals.
Plus there's team practices, travel days, preseason, and much more that goes into being a professional hockey player at the highest level. So what do the league's best players do in their highly limited free time? For Connor McDavid, the answer is simple. He works out. McDavid's fiancé Lauren Kyle recently posted a video of the two of them doing hill sprints at night in freezing cold Alberta. McDavid and Kyle revealed earlier this year that they are set to be married in July, hopefully after the Oilers have won a Stanley Cup.
After all, McDavid needs to stay in the best shape possible in order to be the most effective on the ice. He remains the league's best active player although he does not currently lead the NHL in scoring due to an injury sustained early in the season. That honor belongs to Tampa Bay Lightning superstar Nikita Kucherov, who has 123 points at the time of writing this.
Kucherov has been on an absolute tear lately, practically single-handedly willing his team back to the playoffs.
It appears as though the Lightning will be making another trip to the playoffs this year, but they will likely be in an unfamiliar position as a wild card team. McDavid's Oilers on the other hand are likely to land a top-three spot in the Pacific division. They currently are three points ahead of the LA Kings for 2nd in the division and five points ahead of Vegas, who currently holds the second wild card spot in the Western conference.
