When you think of Connor McDavid's play style you usually think of his speed, skill, intensity, and finesse.
Your first thought isn't big hits, fighting, and scrappy, blue collar hockey.
During the Oilers' 2-0 victory over the Kings last night, McDavid changed his tone a bit, causing some controversy with a massive hit.
McDavid Gets Away With a Suspendible Hit on Anderson
Not even two minutes into last night's game, McDavid made his presence known by boarding Kings defenseman Mikey Anderson, on a hit some would consider a suspendible offense.
Connor McDavid would receive a two minute minor for boarding on the play, but some are questioning whether that was enough.
Now you can debate the intention of the hit all day long, and you're likely to hear all sorts of varying opinions on the matter, but the fact is that the hit doesn't look good.
Connor McDavid spoke to reporters after the game, and defended the hit.
We've heard nothing so far from the NHL's Department of Player Safety, which is laughably inconsistent with their rulings.
We'll have to wait and see what happens next for McDavid.
