The Edmonton Oilers have officially prevented the Calgary Flames from receiving a draft pick in a trade condition from the Chris Tanev trade.

Rivalries aren't always just based on the ice, with the Edmonton Oilers finals clinching win over the Dallas Stars, they have prevented the Calgary Flames from receiving the conditional third round pick in 2026, a condition in the famous Chris Tanev trade during the NHL trade deadline.

Calgary Flames fans and Oilers fans took the time on social media to laugh and mock the fact that rivalries have no bounds!

So you're telling me Edmonton screwed them out of 2 conditional picks in back to back rounds, is playing in the Stanley Cup Finals, against the team that has Tkachuk and Bennett who were Flames top draft picks and basically demanded out? Ohhhahahahahahahaha that is peak comedy.

Oilers sent the Calgary flames into a rebuild 2 years ago.. and since then.. the oilers have been preventing the Calgary from rebuilding by denying them trade conditions. That is hilarious.

The Oilers stranglehold on the Flames franchise continues

A fan even brought up the fact that the Edmonton Oilers are the reason the Flames are rebuilding after their second round win in the 2021-22 NHL playoffs!

What a contrary world both Alberta teams are living in right now, with one of them in the Stanley Cup Finals while the other one is striving for mediocrity.

Stay tuned for more updates throughout the series.
