Oilers call up goaltender Jack Campbell during the playoffs
Last night the Edmonton Oilers made an interesting move calling up a pair of players from their AHL team the Bakersfield Condors. The most interesting addition was veteran goaltender Jack Campbell.
Yesterday the Edmonton Oilers announced that they had called up both Jack Campbell and Philip Broberg from AHL Bakersfield before their next playoff game.
The Edmonton Oilers have recalled goaltender Jack Campbell and defenceman Philip Broberg from the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL.
The move comes after the Condors were eliminated from the AHL's Calder Cup Playoffs. This call-up could be a redemption arc for both players. Philip Broberg is a promising prospect who has struggled to find success at the NHL level. Jack Campbell on the other hand was considered the team's starter to begin the year but struggled so bad he was put on waivers.
Edmonton will be putting Jack Campbell on waivers today
While neither player will likely get into the lineup unless there is an injury it does set the stage for drama if one of them does. Hopefully for both players this will give them some confidence heading into the 2024-25 season where they can get back on track.
The next opportunity for Jack Campbell or Philip Broberg to get back in the lineup will be on Wednesday in Game 5 against the Los Angeles Kings.
