Insider Reveals Exactly When the Patrick Kane Trade Will Go Down
The New York Rangers will acquire Patrick Kane this week. Now we know exactly when the trade will go down.
More Details Leaked in Trade For Patrick Kane
Per Insider Chris Johnston, a trade for Patrick Kane could take all the way until 3:00 PM on Deadline Day.
This is simply for salary cap reasons, as the Rangers need to optimize their cap situation to acquire Kane.
With Jake Leschyshyn on waivers, they will free up that cap space. This will allow them to make the deal as soon as Wednesday. However, if they want to dress a 20-man healthy roster, they will need to wait an additional day.
While all indications remain positive on a Patrick Kane to #NYR deal eventually coming to fruition, the trade itself likely won't be executed before Wednesday. It could even come closer to Friday's 3 p.m. deadline because the salary cap implications improve with each passing day.
If Leschyshyn is sent down today, #NYR can make Kane trade as of Wednesday. If trade not made Wed, they would have room to call up 1 player for the game on Wed for 20 healthy players, then send them down Thursday, & still fit Kane in Thursday or Friday.
If #NYR want to keep Leschyshyn on roster today for 20 healthy players, they could send him down tomorrow, call someone up for game on Wednesday, send them down Thursday, and fit Kane in on Thursday or Friday
This process won't be easy, but we all know where it's headed.
With Kane at home in Chicago without the team, we will see him traded in the next week. The only question is Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday?
