BREAKING: Expensive Goalie Placed on Waivers
Another day closer to the NHL season means another group of players on waivers. Today includes an expensive high-profile goaltender.
Expensive Goalie On Waivers
Today 13 more players were placed on waivers by NHL teams. The most noteworthy name was a high-profile goalie. The Philadelphia Flyers placed Cal Petersen on waivers just months after trading for him.
Now on waivers: Regula, Renouf, Richard, Walsh, Wotherspoon (BOS); Griffith (EDM); Kallgren (NJ); Bernard-Docker, Highmore, Larsson, Sokolov (OTT); Laczynski & Cal Petersen (PHI)
Petersen was expected to challenge current starter Carter Hart for control of the net heading into the season. Instead, he will likely have a new home either through a waiver claim or way of the AHL.
Other high-profile players put on waivers today include former first-round pick Jacob Bernard-Docker as well as former second-round pick Egor Sokolov.
All 3 of these individuals will now be open to be claimed by every NHL team along with the other players placed on waivers. It will be interesting to see if any of these players belong to new organizations by this time tomorrow.
