Fans have been calling out Penguins defenseman Jeff Petry after his play against the New Jersey Devils on April 4.

Bad Decisions

Petry's play against the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night was...well, brutal. Petry pinch in the Devils zone created a 2-on-1 for the Devils, allowing Dawson Mercer to score his first of three goals that night.

Petry was also penalized for a delay of game in the second period, allowing Timo Meier to score, putting the Devils up 3-0.

Bad Trade by Hextall

As the season goes on, fans seem to cringe more at GM Ron Hextall's acquisition of Petry.

The 35 year old was traded, along with Ryan Poehling, by the Montreal Canadiens in 2022 in exchange for Mike Matheson and a 2023 4th round pick. Petry's carries a contract worth $6.25M. He is signed through the 2024-25 season.
