On Sunday night, the Blues played against the Jets, however, Krug did not get to play the entire game due to a dispute with the NHL referees officiating the game.
Krug received a deserved roughing penalty on Jets forward Kevin Stenlund. Krug took issue with the call when he realized he received a double minor for this play. The moment he saw that he received 4 minutes instead of 2 he went ballistic in the penalty box. It is unclear who he was upset with, but knowing hockey players, it was most likely one of the referees.
While Krug was smashing his stick against the glass of the penalty box, the officials responded by adding 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct. This gave Krug a combined total of 16 minutes in the box during the opening period of the game.
Here is a video showing Krug throwing a fit in the penalty box:
Blues insider Jeremy Rutherford provided a rather humorous summary of the various penalties that Krug received:
As seen on Hockeyfeed - Krug goes ballistic, earns 16 penalty minutes and gets tossed from the game!
