The Sharks have had a player who has been on a constant decline and it has gotten so bad that he is now being healthy scratched.

Sharks Scratch Vlasic

Tonight there are 16 different NHL games meaning every single team will be getting into some action tonight. With that comes some surprising moves and the Sharks made the first one by scratching $7 million defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic.

Blackwood starts, #SJSharks going 12F-6D, Bordeleau is in and Vlasic sits

Marc-Édouard Vlasic will be a healthy scratch tonight for #SJSharks against #TimeToHunt.

He is in the 6th year of an 8-year, $7M AAV contract.

Vlasic has this year and two more left on his current contract and already being a scratch means that Vlasic is likely to have his contract bought out relatively soon.

Vlasic is a 36-year-old defenseman who has over 1,200 NHL games under his belt. While he was never an offensive star, Vlasic was always one of the best defensive defensemen in the NHL and used to play alongside Brent Burns when Burns took home the Norris.

Throughout his career, Vlasic is a +77 which is impressive as is but even more so when the stat that Vlasic has been a minus player for the past six seasons.

Now the Sharks have a difficult question to answer on if they will keep the defenseman around or if they will move on from him.
