Former Detroit Red Wings top forward Filip Zadina has signed a new contract with a new team.
Zadina Signs With New Home
Zadina has just signed a new contract with the San Jose Sharks after recently clearing waivers from every team in the league. His former team, the Detroit Red Wings, had waived him in order to make room for the pursuit of Ottawa Senators forward Alex DeBrincat.
After clearing waivers the first time, Zadina was placed on once again by the Red Wings, but instead for the reason of terminating the remains of his 2-year and $4.56 million contract. Neither side had interest in continuing on with the contract, so they pursued this route.
Now that the former 6th overall pick has found a new home in San Jose, it's time for him to replenish and develop his anticipated career with a fresh change of scenery. He will look to be a part of their rebuild alongside fellow Czech Tomas Hertl.
Zadina is coming off of a 7-point year which saw him play only 30 games. The Sharks could have a steal if Zadina pans out like they hope he could.
