Erik Karlsson Has a Crazy Angry Outburst on the Bench
Erik Karlsson will likely win the Norris trophy as the league's best defenseman this season. Yesterday, he didn't look like a veteran.
Karlsson Loses it On the Bench
Despite Karlsson being on track to be the first 100-point defenseman in 30 years, his San Jose Sharks have been tough to watch.
Bound for a good bet at the Bedard lottery, Karlsson's individual performances haven't been enough, and it's clearly affecting his temper.
After a high-stick by Alexander Kerfoot wasn't called, Karlsson had a big angry outburst on the bench. He aggressively threw his helmet on the ice, and earned himself an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
After the events, Karlsson spoke, and apologized (somewhat):
«It's just a little disrespectful,» Karlsson said. «Understand that they have a tough job. Things are gonna get missed and stuff, but I found that was a hard one to miss.»
He added: «To get disrespected like that, it's tough to take. I lost my cool a little bit after that. I apologize for that, but doesn't matter if it's a 6-nothing game or 1-nothing game, you're still out there trying to play our hardest.»
Im the post-game, Head Coach David Quinn confirmed that the referees missed the calls:
«Yeah, they said they didn't see it,» Quinn said. «Corey (Syvret) said he was behind [Karlsson] and didn't see it.»
Whether it got called or not, it wouldn't have bad much effect on the Avalanche's 6-0 win.
