Kucherov Creates Controversy With His Actions During All-Star Weekend
This weekend the NHL put on their annual All-Star game. This year the festivities included a fantasy draft, skills competition, and 3 on 3 tournament. Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov caught some flak for his actions during the skills competition.
Kucherov during the skills competition was seen as being very lackadaisical. He was not trying to win any of the competitions and did not want to be there.
This led Kucherov to be booed by the crowd and bashed on social media for his actions. This has led to discussion over whether or not Kucherov deserves to be suspended for an upcoming game.
Kucherov Facing Suspension For All-Star Weekend Actions?
A new report from TVA has indicated that fans weren't the only ones upset about Kucherov's actions. Several team officials were disappointed in the lack of respect shown by Kucherov throughout the weekend.
With Kucherov's lack of effort and the Sidney Crosby incident where he skipped the fantasy draft portion of the weekend fans are unhappy. This could lead to either discipline for the players or yet another change to the All-Star weekend to find a better balance.
Whatever the NHL decides to do a segment of the fan base will be upset. The NHL has generally sided with their players in situations like this so a suspension might be a longshot unless fans cause a major uproar.
